GEMINIANO PINEDA

Geminiano Pineda, productor mexicano, fundador y director general de Cine CANÍBAL, compañía productora y distribuidora de cine independiente que maneja títulos en México y Centro América como “Amor Índigo” de Michel Gondry, “Indiferencia” de Tony Kaye, “La danza de la realidad” de Alejandro Jodorowsky, “Tom en el granero” de Xavier Dolan, “Moonrise Kingdom” de Wes Anderson, entre otras. Estudió Dirección Cinematográfica en Madrid en la Escuela Superior de Artes y Espectáculos de España. Geminiano es Productor Ejecutivo de las películas “Voy a Explotar” y “Miss Bala” de Gerardo Naranjo, ésta última seleccionada por la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas para representar a México en los Premios Oscar y Goya, “Abel” de Diego Luna, “Jean Gentil” de Laura Guzmán e Israel Cárdenas, “Sólo quiero caminar” de Agustín Díaz Yanes, “Cefalópodo” de Rubén Imaz, “18 cigarrillos y medio” de Marcelo Tólces, “REVOLUCIÓN” de los directores Mariana Chenillo, Patricia Riggen, Rodrigo Plá, Rodrigo García, Carlos Reygadas, Amat Escalante, Diego Luna, Gerardo Naranjo, Gael García Bernal y Fernando Eimbcke, “Post Mortem” de Pablo Larraín, además de la serie de televisión “Soy tu fan” junto con Canal ONCE. Actualmente está trabajado la postproducción de “Dariela los martes” de Mauricio T. Valle y “Mexicanos de Bronce” de Julio Fernández Talamantes, además del desarrollo de las películas “Limerencia” de Guillermo Canan, “La puta realidad” de Gabriela Calvache y “La caja vacía” de Claudia Sainte-Luce. Su mas reciente producción “Los insólitos peces gato”, opera prima de Claudia Sainte-Luce ha sido acreedora de varios reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales como el Premio de la Crítica Internacional (FIPRESCI) en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto, el premio a Mejor película Latinoamericana en Mar del Plata y recientemente la Diosa de Plata a Mejor Película.

He studied Film Directing in the School of Arts and Spectacles of Spain in Madrid. Geminiano is Executive Producer of the films “I'm gonna explode” and “Miss Bala” by Gerardo Naranjo, last one selected by the Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences to represent Mexico in the Oscar and Goya Awards, “Abel” by Diego Luna, “Jean Gentil” by Laura Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas, “Sólo quiero caminar” by Agustín Díaz Yanes, “Cefalópodo” by Rubén Imaz, “18 cigarrillos y medio” by Marcelo Tólces, “REVOLUTION” by Mariana Chenillo, Patricia Riggen, Rodrigo Plá, Rodrigo García, Carlos Reygadas, Amat Escalante, Diego Luna, Gerardo Naranjo, Gael García Bernal and Fernando Eimbcke, “Post Mortem” by Pablo Larraín, in addition to the television series “Soy tu fan” together with channel ONCE. He is currently working the post-production of both films “Dariela los martes” by Mauricio T. Valle and “Mexicanos de bronce” by Julio Fernández Talamantes, in addition to the development of the films “Limerence” by Guillermo Canan, “La puta realidad” by Gabriela Calvache and “La caja vacía” by Claudia Sainte-Luce. His most recent production “The amazing catfish”, first film directed by Claudia Sainte-Luce has been the recipient of several national and international awards including International Critics Prize (FIPRESCI) at the Toronto International Film Festival, the award for Best Latin American Film in Mar del Plata, and recently the Silver goodess for Best Film.
